The Council of the Apostolic Orthodox Church (AOC), opened on May, 17th, 2007, one of these days has come to the end in Moscow. On final session of the Council on September, 6-7th, 2008, passing in a St Martyr Alexander Men Moscow parish, there have arrived bishops, clergymen and laymen - representatives of the AOC communities.

On September, 6^th, after the Divine Liturgy final session of the Council has opened the report of metropolitan Vitaly on development of the AOC. The Council has approved service of metropolitan Vitaly as the Primace of the Church and has passed to the agenda. At previous sessions of the Council passing within year projects of the documents regulating basic aspects of life of the AOC have been developed and discussed: Confession of the AOC, Canons of the AOC, the Charter for communities, Decrees about liturgical reform, about ecumenism, about the social concept, etc. After long debate and discussion of critical remarks, on September, 6th all offered projects as a whole have been approved. The Sacred Synod of the AOC will establish an editorial group to prepare Council materials for the publication till the end of 2008.

Canonization of archbishop Hermogen (Golubev), the confessor, which has come true behind the Divine Liturgy on Sunday, on September, 7^th, became the major event of the Council. The secretary of the Sacred Synod of the AOC, archpriest Gleb Yakunin has read the decision of the Sacred Synod on canonization, has told to participants of the Council about a course of saint’s life who in days of the Soviet persecutions on the Church adequately bore the pastoral service. Then the Council’s unanimous decision on canonization of St Confessor Hermogen was accepted. The same day the report of layman of the AOC Lev Regelson on a theme “About eternal and variable in church canons” has been heard. Also Most Reverend Victor, metropolitan of Kiev, has acted with the brilliant sermon on orthodox dogma and has answered the questions. The Council has come to the end with a prayer before icon of the St Confessor Hermogen for the peace on Caucasus and all over the world.
